Scope and Contents Collection contains cartes de visite portraits of Civil War soldiers and officers. Most of the portraits depict individual soldiers. A few are portraits of groups of soldiers. Some portraits have soldiers names or regiments recorded on the cards, while many are unidentified. One identified soldier is Oscar Dwight Kelton who served in the 95th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Company A. Many of the portraits were taken by Ohio photographers. Cartes de visite include photographic portraits and engraved reproductions of photographs.
